SeaBioPlas Project Video

Seabioplas proposes the use of seaweeds to produce bioplastics. PolyLactic Acid (PLA) is a bio-based, biodegradable polymer which, along with other biopolymers, is demonstrating impressive growth rates. Currently, the production of PLA and other biopolymers is based in the use of important food sources for humans and other animals (e.g. corn, wheat, sugar beet) and other natural resources. The proposed use of seaweed instead of these crops has many benefits. More at www.seabioplas.eu

The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme managed by REA - Research Executive Agency, FP7/2007 - 2013 under Grant Agreement no. 606032.
